Mortal Kombat 4 is the fourth main game in the Mortal Kombat series of fighting video game developed by Midway Games. Released in 1997, Mortal Kombat 4 is the first title of the series to use 3D computer graphics as well as one of the first games that made Midway in 3D. Eurocom later ported to the PlayStation, Nintendo 64, PC, and Game Boy Color during 1998. The latest version titled Mortal Kombat Gold a year later released exclusively for the Dreamcast.
Gameplay of Mortal Kombat 4 is the same as the previous game, one of the most important additions is the use of weapons and objects during a fight. Historical story line of attack against corrupt god Shinnok former colleagues of his who trapped him in a Netherealm many years before the start of the series': the other 17 playable characters to take part in the battle between good and evil, with the power of light to try to stop Shinnok and the forces of darkness trying to conquer all of nature (Mortal Kombat Gold will expand the number of characters available).
While developing the game, Midway staff had problems creating graphics like it's one of the first 3D fighting game that they develop. Co-creator Ed Boon commented that the staff wanted to make Mortal Kombat 4 is more virulent than its prequels, delete moves displayed complete funny in it. Since its release, Mortal Kombat 4 received a positive response from critics because of the graphics and gameplay. On the other hand, Gold Game Boy Color port and accept criticism.
